Pushyarka Yoga on 23-Oct-16 & 20-Nov-16

Hare Srinivasa,

Here comes a gentle reminder that coming Sunday(23rd October) is a special day to earn Sri Rayaru’s blessings. We have Pushyarka Yoga on this day as the Pushya Nakshatra is coming on Sunday. Also we have one more similar combination that is occurring next month on 20th November.

Pushya is a Sanskrit word, meaning “to nourish”. The ruler of Pushya is Saturn or Shani and its deity is Brihaspati or Jupiter, the Guru of wisdom. When the Pushya Nakshatra falls on Thursday or Sunday, astrologers and religious minded people consider it as favourable and call it Pushya Amrit Yoga. This day (Pushya Nakshatra) is an auspicious day to see, take blessings and remember your Guru or spiritual teacher. It is in this manner that Pushya has an auspicious link with spiritual and religious matters.

We all know that one of the greatest devotees of Rayaru was Sri Appanacharya. He brought out the benefits of remembering Rayaru on such a day or on Pushya Nakshatra.

In his Raghavendra Stotra, Sri Appanacharya says,

“Soma surya parogo cha pushyarkadhi samagame,

Yo anuthamam idham stotramashtothara satham japeth,

Bhootha praetha pisachadhi peeda thasya na jayathe”

What this means is that when there is a lunar or solar eclipse or during Pushya Star on Sunday, any person reciting the shlokas of Raghavendra Swamy or remembering him, will not have any kind of trouble. No ghost, devil or/and any evil will trouble a person who recites the Raghavendra Stotra 108 times or performs the japa 108 times.

So let us all make use of this auspicious day by getting together in front of Sri Rayara Mruthika Brindavana and chant the famous Sri Rayara Stotra as many times as possible and earn the blessings of Sri Hari Vayu Gurugalu.

Surya Shashti – 07Sep16

Hare Srinivasa,

The 6th day in the lunar month of Bhadrapada Masa (Shasti thithi) is known as Surya Shashti. This month it is observed on 07-Sep-16(Wednesday). It is highly meritorious to take bath early in the morning on this day, worship the Sun God and take Panchagavya (a mix of five items related to the sacred Cow). It is also advised to worship Lord Subramanya on this Shashti. This is supposed to give merits equivalent to Ashwamedha.

In Shashtras, it has been mentioned that that if a devotee performs the daily rituals to Sun God, the miseries of life vanishes and he/she attains good health, healthy mind and salvation. After Snaana and Surya Puja, Pancha Gavya praashana should be done to qualify for the Phala or the Punya of executing Ashwamedha Yagna. On this very day of Surya Shashti, darshan of Kumara Swami would bestow relief for Brahma Hatya too.

DHARMA SINDHU – 64 SAYS:

SUKLAE BHAATHRAPATHEY SASHTIYAM SNAANAM BHASKARA POOJANAM |

PRAASANAM PANCHA KAVYASYA ASWAMEDHA PHALAADHIKAM. ||

Mantra for Sun God worship:-

Japa Kusuma Samkaasham Kaashya-peyam Mahaa-dyutim |

Tamorim Sarva-papaghnam Pranatosmin Divakaram ||

Sun (Soorya-Ravi) I pray to the Sun, the day-maker, destroyer of all sins, the enemy of darkness, of great brilliance, the descendent of Kaashyapa, the one who shines like the japaa flower.
