Greatness of Sri Rayaru

Hare Srinivasa,

Today is very important and holy day for us as the Aradhana Mahotsava of Mantralaya Mahan Kalpavriksha Kamadhenu Sri Sri Raghavendra Theertha Guru Sarva Bhoumaru is celebrated everywhere with utmost devotion and grandeur. I am sure most of you would have been waiting for this day since the start of Hemalambi Samvatsara to do your yatha sakthi seve and do samarpane at the holy feet of Sri Rayaru. The great Rayaru is always graceful and there need not be any doubt that he will grace us for sure and all our wishes are fulfilled.

Sumadhwa Vijaya says “even if we do smarane of the Sarvajna Peetha used by Jagad Gurugalu Sriman Madhwacharyaru, we will be liberated“. Similarly we have to listen to greatness of our gurugalu like Sri Rayaru again and again and that will do wonders and help us to proceed forward in our sadhane marga and go to the next level. On this auspicious day, let us listen to what Sri Sri Suvidyendra Theertharu and Sri V Prabanjanacharya has to say on the greatness of Sri Raghavendra Swamigalu.

Pushyarka Yoga in MANMATHA Samvatsara

Hare Srinivasa,

It is very well known to everyone that Sri Gururayaru is very compassionate and will bless us without demanding anything from us. No matter whenever we pray him, we will be granted solace, however, His humble disciple and devotee Sri Appannacharya mentions some particular days to invoke His special blessings. (Pls. refer to the verse “somasooryo parage cha pushya arka adi samagame” in Sri Raghavendra Stotra) These are the days where several auspicious moments confluence together. Hence there is a practice of chanting Sri Raghavendra Stotra for 108 times.

The combination of Pushya Nakshatra on Sunday is considered very auspicious. Chanting Sri RaghavEndra Guru Stotra “ashtOttara shata” i.e. 108 times gives vishesha phala to all individuals.

“SOmasooryOparAgEcha PushyArkAdi samAgamE “

Here is a list of such days in this Manmatha Samvatsara.

26-04-2015 Sunday    : Pushyarka Yoga

13-08-2015 Thursday : Guru Pushya Yoga

10-09-2015 Thursday : Guru Pushya Yoga

24-01-2016 Sunday    : Pushyarka Yoga

Hence request everyone to do parayana of this sacred and powerful Guru Stotra on the listed days and gain the blessing of Sri Raghavendra guruvantargata, Sree Bhaarati Ramana Mukhyapraanantargata, Sreeman Narayana.

Rayara Aradhana Mahotsava @ Markeyankottai

Hare Srinivasa,

Rayara Mrithika Brindavana - Mkottai

With the blessings of Sri Hari Vayu Gurugalu, I have been to Markeyankottai for the Rayara Aradhana Mahotsava this year. Lot of changes have happened in the last 1 year in mutt and the entire flooring was redone and new amenities like RO Water System are made available for the devotees. The highlight of this year’s event was the presence of Vidwan Sri G P Nagarajacharya from Bangalore. He not only graced the Aradhana with his presence for Alankara on day 1, but also delivered an inspiring and thought provoking pravachana on Sri Raghavendra Swamiji. He underlined how our Rayaru was Ratharu in following Sathya and Dharma. Srinivasa Kalyana was celebrated on Madhya aradhana dhina like every year and lot of devotees participated. Here are some few snaps from the Aradhana celebrations.

Pushyarka Yoga on 27Jul14

Hare Srinivasa,

As most of you are busy with the planning and preparations for the most awaited Aradhana of the year, the 343rd aradhana of Sri Raghavendra Theertha Gurusarvabhoumaru from 11 to 13-August, here comes a gentle reminder that coming Sunday(27th July) is a special day to earn Sri Rayaru’s blessings. We have Pushyarka Yoga on this day as the Pushya Nakshatra is coming on Sunday. Also note this is the only such occurrence in this JAYA year.

Pushya is a Sanskrit word, meaning “to nourish”. The ruler of Pushya is Saturn or Shani and its deity is Brihaspati or Jupiter, the Guru of wisdom. When the Pushya Nakshatra falls on Thursday or Sunday, astrologers and religious minded people consider it as favourable and call it Pushya Amrit Yoga. This day (Pushya Nakshatra) is an auspicious day to see, take blessings and remember your Guru or spiritual teacher. It is in this manner that Pushya has an auspicious link with spiritual and religious matters.

We all know that one of the greatest devotees of Rayaru was Sri Appanacharya. He brought out the benefits of remembering Rayaru on such a day or on Pushya Nakshatra.

In his Raghavendra Stotra, Appanacharya says,

“Soma surya parogo cha pushyarkadhi samagame,

Yo anuthamam idham stotramashtothara satham japeth,

Bhootha praetha pisachadhi peeda thasya na jayathe”

What this means is that when there is a lunar or solar eclipse or during Pushya Star on Sunday, any person reciting the shlokas of Raghavendra Swamy or remembering him, will not have any kind of trouble. No ghost, devil or/and any evil will trouble a person who recites the Raghavendra Stotra 108 times or performs the japa 108 times.

So let us all make use of this auspicious day by getting together in front of Sri Rayara Mruthika Brindavana and chant the famous Sri Rayara Stotra as many time as possible and do our sankalpa for our sadhane during the Aradhana period on this day and pray for Sri Rayaru and Sri Hari Vayu Gurugalu’s blessings to make it happen.
