Madhwa Vijaya – Audio Links

Hare Srinivasa,

Sri MadhwacharyaruMadhwa Vijaya is very important for us and it is worshiped and revered in a such a way that it is next only to Hari Vayustuthi. In fact both HVS & SMV are like two eyes for Madhwas. Sri V Prabhanjanacharya cautions that Madhwa Vijaya is not only a maha kavya but also a Shastra grantha for us, as it talks about the success story of someone who has given us the Sarvamoola Grantha. He further adds that, though it is a matchless maha kavya, it is full of only Truths. By doing parayana of Madhwa Vijaya sincerely, one will sure get a chance to learn Acharyaru’s Sarvamoola Granthas.

I would like to share two links here on Madhwa Vijaya shared by a friend. The first one is parayana and the second is a pravachana on SMV. Please click on the images below.

Sri Madhwa Vijaya – ADYANTA SHLOKAS

Hare Srinivasa,

Madhwa Vijaya Mahakavya is very very important grantha to us next only to Hari Vayustuthi. Unlike other followers, we have one and only Madhwa Vijaya written by Sri Narayana Panditacharyaru whose father Sri Trivikrama Panditacharya has given us the great Vayaustuthi. It is said that all devatas recite Madhwa Vijaya every day even now. Sri V Prabhanjanachar equates this grantha with other shastra granthas as this talk about someone who has given us Sarvamoola!!

I have heard in pravachana about this noteworthy incident wherein a conversation happens between one Swamiji and a Vidhyarti. In the course of their talk, Swamiji poses a question to the student “What grantha are you doing adhyayana now ?” You know what happened…. the student excused himself and ran to the nearby well, made snaana and rushed back to Swamiji and said ” Madhwa Vijaya “. Even for uttering the name of the grantha, he became madi and replied. Then imagine how much reverence our elders have given to this grantha and can you imagine the benefits of chanting this grantha regularly. It is also said that one who does parayana of SMV regularly will certainly get the grace of Sri Acharya Madhwaru and will become eligible and get opportunity to study Sarvamoola grantha.

We have seen there are several parayana teams existing as part of different Madhwa Sanghas across cities, which are doing regular parayana of Sumadhwa Vijaya. I am thankful and proud to be part of Yati Thraya Parayana Samiti affiliated to Sri Raghavendra Swamy Brindavanam Trust, Nanganallur. Also I have seen many pundits who have made it a habit of reciting one Sarga of Madhwa Vijaya every day. There is another practice as well and for those who are not able to recite the entire 1008 shlokas, it is said that by reciting the first and the last Shloka of each sarga, one would get thee same merit of reading the entire Madhwa Vijaya. This method is popularly known as ‘Adyanta Shloka parayana’

My friend and YTPS Member Sri Ananthapadmanabhan has created and shared the attached Madhwa Vijaya Adyanta Shloka in Tamil. He has shared in the larger interest of our community so that those interested can download this pdf and use it for daily parayana. Many thanks to Sri Ananth!!

Madhwanama by Sri Sripadarajaru

One of the most popular works of Sripadarajaru is Madhvanama. This is a kannada poem extolling Vayu Devaru and his three incarnations. As the auspicious Madhwa Navami is fast approaching, let us spend some thoughts on this great work. It follows the structure of Shri Hari Vayustuthi and was composed by Sripadarajaru for the benefit of those who don’t know Sanskrit and/or are not allowed to recite the Vayustuthi. In this short but potent work Sripadarajaru has not only captured the essence of the Hari Vayustuthi but also embedded several key, and not so well known concepts, as well as incidents from Ramayana and Mahabharata.

One has to remember that Sripadarajaru was an amsha of Dhruva, an aparoksha gyani, a very great scholar and the vidya-guru of Sri Vyasarajaru. So, his description of Vayudevaru and his three incarnations is bound to be complete and flawless. He has infused this stotra with pristine bhakti and gyana. So, in terms of spiritual content and value, it is worthy of adoration and worship. The fact that another great aparoksha gyani – Sri Jagannatha Dasaru – has written the phala-stuti of this work is a testimony to its potence and greatness.

This Madhwa nama told by Sripadarajaru will destroy all sorrows, provide all types of happiness and well-being, and in addition, will show you Shripati Jagannatavittala and take you out of this well (or ocean) called samsara.

…….Sri Jagannatha Dasarau

Guru Sripadarajaru

SrIpadarajaru is revered by all Madhvas. His contributions to Dvaita, Haridasa Sahitya, and the then existing social and political circumstances were considerable. Sripadarajaru was one of the pillars of the haridasa movement. He popularized the practice of composing kannada devaranamas, steeped in bhakti. Some of his famous devaranamas are: “nI ittahange iruvEnO hariyE …”, “KangaLidyatako kAvEri rangana nODada..”, “bhUshanake bhUshana …”. His ankitha is “Ranga Viththala“.

The saint has his brindavana at a place called Narasimha Tirtha, about 1.5 km from Mulbagilu, on NH4 (old Bangalore-Madras highway). It is said, when he was at his old age, he wanted to have Ganga-snana and could not go so far. Then Ganga appeared before him and said that she would come to narasimha tirtha and stay there forever. Sripadaraja’s devotees were extremely happy to have gangasnana without much effort. From that time onwards, taking a bath in narasimha tIrtha is equivalent to having a bath in the ganga. Here are the pdf download links for the Madhwanama Text in multiple languages.

Guru Raghavendra Stotra

Hare Srinivasa!

Om Sri Raghavendraya Namaha!

I have uploaded the audio of the great Sri Raghavendra Stotra written by Shri Appanacharya which is recited every day in almost every madhwa home by Rayaru devotees.

Mantralaya Mahan Sri Raghavendra Swamigalu

As you all know, Rayaru sitting in the Brindavana has listened the Gurustotra fully by his dear disciple, and completed the stotra by saying SAAKSHI HAYASTOTRAHI from the brindavana. At that time Rayaru was Chanting Hayagreeva Mantra, said Hayagreeva Roopi Sri Hari is the witness for all this what has been told in the Gurustotra. Like Trivikrama Pandithacharya’s Vayustuthi getting the stamp of approval from none other than our Jagadguru Shrimadhacharyaru, Rayaru has approved this great stotra. And the merits of chanting this stotra, the phala-shruti that is part of the stotra says it all and what can we add to that!

Please listen to Sri Guru Rayara Stotra in the attached YouTube link.
