Khagrasa Chandra Grahana or Total Lunar Eclipse will occur on 10-12-2011
Khara Nama Samvatsara – Margashirsha Shukla Paurnima 10-Dec-2011
There will be a total Lunar Eclipse on 10-December and this Eclipse occurs in Rohini/Mrugashira Nakshatra, Vrushaba Rashi on Saturday night. This Grahana is visible in all parts of India. Sparsha and Moksha time are same for all locations. This is second Grahana happening in this year and we had one during the month of June. Like the last one, this too is quite long one and it is a blessing in disguise for us, as we can make use of this parva kala by indulging in Japa/Parayana activities.
Grahana Timings:
Sparsha : 06.16 PM (10-Dec)
Madhya : 08.02 PM
Moksha : 09.48 PM
Total Parva Kaala : 03 Hours 32 Mins.
Vedarambha Start Time : From Suryodhaya time
NOTE: As there is Khagrasa Chandra Grahana in the 1st yama of 10-12-2011 Saturday, there will be no Bhojana in the morning of 10-Dec. Bhojana(meals) should be done only after Shuddhi Snana after Grahana Moksha.
Shuba Pala : Meena, Dhanusu, Simha, Karka
Madhya Pala : Mesha, Makara, Vruschika, Kanya
Ashuba Pala : Vrushabha, Kumbha, Tula, Mithuna
Grahana kaala is called as “Parva Kaala” and in anushtaana, it is like Ekadasi Vrata. If one make use of this opportunity by taking bath at the appropriate time and spending the parva kaala by doing Japa and parayana of Vishnusahasranama, Hari Vayustuti, Rayar Stotra & other stotra, then you will get abundant punya. At the same time, if one just ignores it and continue with the regular stuff like eating and sleeping during the Grahana time, then you will have to face the consequences for sure.
So let us all make use of this highly auspicious time(after all it occurs during the evening of a Saturday when everyone is at home/leave day and there can be no other excuses) by taking the bath during the sparsha time and spend the next three hours in Japa and Paryana till the Moksham happens.
Note: All the timings given above are as per Manthralaya Rayar Mutt Panchanga.

Can we do normal (daily routine) puja during lunar eclipse? If yes, is there anything special ‘mantra to be added in puja. If no, kindly let me know when to do the puja?
