Maha Vajapeya Yaga @ CHINTALAVADI – Dec 2016

Hare Srinivasa,

chintalavadi narasimha swamy

Chintalavadi Sri Narasimha Swamy

The current year 2016 is going to be an important milestone and an remarkable year in our lives. The year started on a grand note in January with our Great Sri Pejavar Swamiji ascending the holiest sarvajna peetha for the historic 5th time(Panchama Paryaya). Similarly before we sign-off the 2016 year, we have the very rare event coming up in the month of December – “Maha Vajapeya Yaga” in Chintalavadi village near Trichy in Tamilnadu. We are indeed fortunate and very blessed to have got the opportunity to witness these two great and rarest events in a same year.

As we all know that maha dharmas like Agnihotra is an extremely rare karma performed by us these days. However it is heartening to see that a few Acharyas continue to carry the torch of this great vaishnava dharma. One such person is Vidwan Sri P. Ramakrishnacharya (s/o Somayaaji Vajapeyi Sirugumani Sri Padmanabhacharya). Shri Ramakrishnacharya has been teaching Rig Veda (Samhita, Krama, Jata etc) and producing hundreds of veda adhyapakas and purohits since 40+ years. He has also performed Soma Yaga many years back. His family’s contribution to the noble cause of Veda Rakshana is commendable and it’s a great accomplishment.

By the grace of Hari Vayu Gurugalu, poojya Acharya has decided to perform Mahaa Vajapeya Yaaga in the month of December between 1st and 16th, 2016 (Margashira Shukla Chaturthi to Margashira Krishna Truteeya ) in the parama pavithra kshetra CHINTALAVADI, on the banks of the river Cauvery , near Trichy.

This yaaga happens perhaps once in several decades and has been discussed in Shrimad Acharya’s Karmanirnaya. None other than Sri Raama devaru performed this Yaaga many times at Ayodhya.

Please note, Auspicious Chaturmasya comes every year, and even the very sacred Adhika Masa comes once in 3 years. And the rare events like Mahakumbh and Pushkara can also be realized with a 12 years wait, but this event – Maha Vajapeya Yaga by a Madhwa Agnihotri, is certainly very rarest of the rare occasion and devotees are requested to make use of this once in a lifetime golden opportunity by participating and contributing yathasakthi and to get the blessings of kshetra moorthi Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy.

Finally before I close, here is a link to an article written by Sri P Ramakrishnacharya many years ago. In this note, Achar recollects and revers how Kanchi Periya Swamigal received and treated them with all honors after completing the previous Vajapeya Yaga during early eighties, as mentioned in the Shastras. Please read and this will help to understand the significance given to this yajna in our shastras.
