When it comes to our daily anushtana, Sandhyavandana and Gayatri Japa comes very first and these are a MUST-DO task for everyone(Purusharu). Lot of emphasis is there in our puranas and shastras and without these any other satkarma done like pooja, parayana and homa will not yield any results. Next in the mandatory list comes the Devara Pooja or Saligrama Pooja. Doing Saligrama pooja is vey sacred thing and one should be fortunate and blessed to have got the opportunity to touch the Saligrama daily for offering our pooja. You can find lot of quotes/notes and books stressing the importance of Saligrama pooja and as we all know, the sannithya of Sri Mahavishnu is always present here and no avahana is required. If 16 Saligramas are present in any house, then it is called a “Kshetra”. Our one and only Jagadguru Sriman Madhwacharyaru has dedicated few shlokas on the significance of Saligrama pooja in His “Sri Krishnamrutha Maharnava” where He says :-
” Those who touch the Shaligrama Shila everyday, even the Gods desire to touch the hands of such people ”
At this point we need to remember with Shastanga Namaskarams and regards to Vidwan Kumbakonam Sri M Rama Rao. It is only because of his book “Devapooja Paddhati” released many many years back in Tamil, today Saligrama pooja is happening in many Madhva homes in TN. In this regard Sri V Ragothaman has done a great deed by sending one pdf book in Tamil on “Saligrama Mahima” by Sri Ramachandra Sharma to our Madhwa mailing lists recently.
Please click on the link/image below to view/download the book in Tamil. Many thanks to Sri Ragothaman for sending the scanned version of this old book(Treasure) to the group in the larger interest of devotees.
