Hare Srinivasa,
Come summer and the most visited websites are invariably the irctc and erail.in sites. As the tickets are very difficult to get even if you plan in advance, one end up working on some alternatives to make the travel work. I ended up with few waitlisted tickets this month and when I was doing the follow-up on them, I came across one very useful site myPNRstatus.com that will send you automatic updates both through SMS message on your mobile and an eMail to your registered email-id whenever there is a change in the waiting list position. An alert message is sent whenever there is a change in your position and once confirmed, they will send you the Coach/Seat numbers as well after the chart is prepared. This is a very good initiative of sending FREE SMS Alerts and saves you from frequently visiting the Railway sites to track changes/updates on the status.
All you need to do is to register with this site once and after every ticket booking, just visit this page and submit your Waitlisted PNR Number. So next time when you book a ticket for a kshetra visit and anxious that you ended up with WL tickets, don’t worry, just log into myPNRstatus site and look forward to free alerts.
